Softwired is a Brisbane consultancy that works on digital transformation, delivery, and change. Tollgate is the software version of how we run governance on those programs.

We have run and governed seven- and eight-figure programs from the accountable side of the table, in mining and resources, rail, energy, financial services, health, retail, education, and professional sport. On programs that size, a governance failure reaches the board.

The method behind Tollgate

Tollgate is software built on the Softwired Above-the-Line Methodology (SAM), a method we refined in the field.

The method is a short list of principles we refined over 20 years on seven- and eight-figure programs, and above the line sits the investment a sponsor answers for while delivery sits below it. An investment runs in three acts. In each one the sponsor asks a sharper version of the same question.

Commit (Discovery and Approval)

Is this worth funding? The case is tested and written down, and the alternatives you looked at stay on the record.

Run (Initiation and Delivery)

Is it still worth it? The case file stays current through the week, so the sponsor gets a straight answer while the question still matters.

Realise (Close-out and Benefits Realisation)

What did we get? The verdict comes in the words of the person who signed the cheque, and the misses stay on the record next to the wins.

What Tollgate leaves out

Tollgate builds the method in and works inside Jira, so governance asks as little as possible of the project team.

Tollgate leaves out ticket-level rollups, capacity planning, sprint metrics, and slide exports, because each of those would pull the tool below the line into delivery detail, where the sponsor loses sight of the money.

Tollgate gives governance a structure and leaves the decisions to the accountable person. Gate states are advisory and never block. The sponsor makes the call, and the record shows who made it.

Tollgate is a Forge app that runs on Atlassian infrastructure.

Your case file lives inside your own Jira, behind the same security and data-residency boundary as the work it governs, and Softwired runs no server in the data path. Ask Tollgate runs on Atlassian Rovo in your own tenancy, makes no external AI calls, and needs Jira Premium or Enterprise.

A regulated buyer can check that boundary in the security review, because no Softwired server holds your data.
